Kathmandu: Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has accused the government of detaining him in a vindictive and biased manner following the investigation into the Bhadra 23 and 24 incidents.

Describing the inquiry commission’s report as “incomplete and unsubstantiated,” Lekhak claimed that the criminal charges against him were baseless and politically motivated. He said he was kept in custody for 13 days based on that report before being released following a court order.

“I was finally released despite being kept under control for 13 days based on the biased, vindictive, incomplete and unsubstantiated report of the commission,” he wrote on social media.

Lekhak expressed high respect for the Supreme Court of Nepal, which ordered his release, stating that he is a law-abiding individual who believes in justice and due process.

He also made it clear that the legal and political battle will continue in the coming days.

In his message, Lekhak extended gratitude to citizens, legal practitioners, judicial staff, human rights activists, political leaders, media personnel, and well-wishers who supported him and raised their voices for his release.

“I express my gratitude to all justice-loving citizens who stood for my release, to legal practitioners who supported me tirelessly, and to all those who advocated for justice. I also express my highest respect to the Supreme Court. I believe in law and justice—the rest of the legal and political battle will continue,” he added.
